CLASSES

Below is the schedule for the late winter semester of our safe, socially-distant, in-person art classes, beginning the week of March 15, 2021. Click here for details about safety procedures and class logistics.

The winter schedule includes mid-day classes for school age kids, for those who need an in-person break from their distance-learning day. :)

For late winter 2021, Muckykids Art Studio offers a variety of classes for kids aged 3 through 14 years. Class series consist of six weekly sessions. Sessions run anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, as noted in the class descriptions. Classes for children 5 and younger are all parent-child: the parent or caregiver stays and participates with the child. The late winter 2021 semester starts March 16, 2021 and runs for six weeks. (Note: Monday classes begin a week later, on March 22.)

In this class parent and child will be encouraged to engage, explore, and experiment with a wide variety of craft supplies. We will delve into projects about line quality, color mixing, symmetry, 2D vs 3D, and more. We will make prints, sculpt with clay, paint, play with color mixing, and make cozy beds for stuffies. Throughout the semester the focus will be on process over product; children at this age are very process oriented and this class is designed to nurture and encourage their art explorations. Enrollment limited to 7 per section.

Pretend Play and Miniature Worlds (Ages 4-5) – 1.5 hrs x 6 weeks
In this class we will take delight in crafting! Using art supplies, upcycled items and learned techniques we will make vehicles with drivers, beds for paper pets, and pretend play goodies such as popsicles and cupcakes. Taking inspiration from the kids in class we can make crowns & magic wands or firefighter badges & mini firefighter figures. When these creations go home, they can inspire play with other family members. Have you ever had an ice cream shop in your own home? Making play money, box bags and inventory will get you started :) Throughout the semester the focus will be on process over product; children at this age are very process oriented and this class is designed to nurture and encourage their art explorations. Our handmade books will showcase some of these techniques. Making maps of places we know and places we imagine is also a wonderful story telling medium. Students will experiment with drafting tools, stencils, and drawings to create their maps.
