CLASSES

Below is the schedule for the early winter semester of our safe, socially-distant, in-person art classes, beginning the week of January 18, 2021. Click here for details about safety procedures and class logistics.

The winter schedule includes mid-day classes for school age kids, for those who need an in-person break from their distance-learning day. :)

For early winter 2021, Muckykids Art Studio offers a variety of classes for kids aged 3 through 14 years. Class series consist of six weekly sessions. Sessions run anywhere from 1 to 2 hours, as noted in the class descriptions. Classes for children 5 and younger are all parent-child: the parent or caregiver stays and participates with the child. The early winter 2021 semester starts January 18, 2021 and runs for six weeks. (Note: Monday classes begin a week later, on January 25.)

Bookmaking is an ancient craft that we will explore, while adding many modern twists, learning the anatomy of the traditional book and moving forward from there. We will make hard and soft cover books with stitched bindings, tape bindings, twig bindings, and even no bindings (accordion fold and scrolls)! We will paint our own cover and end papers, make tasseled bookmarks, and add pockets to some of the books. While being introduced to various illustration techniques students will use collage, stamping, drawing, printmaking, and watercolor to fill these one-of-a-kind creations, some so tiny that they can fit into a matchbox. Enrollment limited to 6 per section.
