Bookmaking (Ages 9-12) – 2 hrs x 6 weeks
Bookmaking is an ancient craft that we will explore, while adding many modern twists, learning the anatomy of the traditional book and moving forward from there. We will make soft cover sketchbooks with stitched bindings, string-bound and pocket accordions, watercolor books, and scrolls. Illustration, printing, stenciling, packing tape transfers, and collage will add depth and visual interest to these one-of-a-kind creations, some so tiny that they can fit into a matchbox. We will also work on independent and collaborative zines. Enrollment limited to 7.
